This is a superb mid Victorian piece of jewellery featuring fine metal work, diamond and superb enamelling.
Circa 1860s, this pendant has lived a bit of a life and seen some changes. We managed to find a near identical one in Greys Antiques in London and it looks as if this was originally a picture locket. The window on the reverse has been covered as seen in the pictures allowing for engraving. This was gifted as a long service piece some years ago and comes in a Tessiers box with a receipt from the 1970s. We have had to do a fair bit of work to this pendant to restore it as there had been a brooch fitting applied, not very well, using lots of horrible lead solder. We have managed to nearly clean all of this off and got the pendant back into a far more acceptable state than it once was.
