This is a unique 22ct shield signet ring that has been constructed from at least two separate wedding rings, possibly with a third very narrow band, soldered together with a gold shield that has had ‘GI’ hand engraved into it. Their are clear hallmarks from the London assay office that date them to 1825 and 1873. It is perhaps the case that these were rings from relatives that have been combined to make a memorial piece.
Metal: 22ct yellow gold.
Marks: 22, London, 1825 & 1873.
Measurements: The head of the ring is 9.8mm x 9.1mm. The bands are 6mm.
Weight: 5.41grams.
Condition: Very good. We have left the gold unpolished so it retains its wonderful aged patina but it could be polished at the point of purchase by request.
Finger size: UK N, USA & Canada 6 1/2.
