This is another brooch to necklace conversation job that we have completed in-house. It is such a shame that brooches are no longer as fashionable as they once were as there are some really lovely well made pieces of jewellery out there sitting idle. We therefore think it entirely acceptable to convert them to something usable. This brooch lent itself beautifully to having a chain attached each side creating this very wearable unique necklace.
The necklace is pre-owned dating to the mid 1970s. The pearl set bar which was once a brooch dates to far easier. We can’t say for certain but we would place it firmly at the beginning of the 20th Century, circa 1900 - 1920.
Metal: The back of the brooch has a 15ct tag soldered onto it. I do not think this is correct though as our tests cannot put the metal of the brooch being any higher than 9ct. We cannot say for sure why this was put on the back of the brooch, possibly to deceive, as such we are only calling this necklace 9ct throughout. The curved pearl set aspect which was once the brooch does have a slight rose gold tint to it while the chain is 100% yellow gold.
Marks: Chain hallmarked EAJ Birmingham import mark 1976.
Measurements: The bar measure 40mm side to side. 3mm at its widest part and narrowing to a point. The chain is 21 inches total length.
Stones: Natural half pearls.
Weight: 7 grams.
Condition: Very good.
