A remarkable Victorian memorial ring, crafted in 18ct yellow gold with royal blue enamel detailing. The ring is set with an old-cut diamond in a distinctive fancy claw setting. Inside the band is an engraving, which has unfortunately become difficult to read but is dated 1850s. It is likely to be the date of a loved one's passing. There is also a small incision on the inside of the shank, which holds a lock of hair in a locket style fastening, as shown in the photos. It is believed to have belonged to the deceased individual referenced in the engraving.
